MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE AT SUSSEX INLET OVERNIGHT WEDNESDAY ON HIGH TIDE
MINOR FLOODING RISING AT ISLAND POINT ROAD
Moderate flooding is possible in the St Georges Basin at Sussex Inlet on the high tide overnight Wednesday into Thursday. The water level expected to remain above the minor flood level (0.90 m) through to Friday. Minor flooding is rising at Island Point Road and expected to remain above the minor flood level (1.20 m) to Thursday evening.
Further showers with possible heavy rainfall is forecast across the catchment for the remainder of Wednesday and into Thursday, which may result in further water level rises.
St Georges Basin:
Minor to moderate flooding is likely in the St Georges Basin.
The St Georges Basin at Island Point is currently at 1.22 m and steady, with minor flooding.
The St Georges Basin at Island Point is likely to reach around 1.45 m overnight Wednesday, with minor flooding. Further rises are possible with forecast rain. The water level is likely to remain above the minor flood level (1.20 m) until Thursday evening.
Sussex Inlet is currently at 1.16 m and steady, with minor flooding.
Sussex Inlet may reach around the moderate flood level (1.20 m) overnight Wednesday. The water level is likely to remain above the minor flood level (0.90 m) to Friday evening.

Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.

MINOR TO MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE AT MENANGLE FROM LATE WEDNESDAY MORNING
MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT CAMDEN, PENRITH AND NORTH RICHMOND FROM WEDNESDAY EVENING
A vigorous low pressure system is deepening off the NSW coast and has resulted in moderate to heavy rainfall over the Hawkesbury Nepean River catchment during Tuesday into Wednesday. Further moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast during Wednesday. This rainfall caused river level rises and is likely to bring minor to moderate flooding along the Nepean River from late Wednesday morning.
Minor flooding is possible at Menangle and Camden, Penrith and North Richmond from Wednesday evening. Further rainfall is forecast for the next 24 hours which may lead to additional areas of minor flooding and rises to the moderate flood level along parts of the lower Nepean and Hawkesbury Rivers.
The situation is being closely monitored and this warning will be updated as required.
A Severe Weather Warning is current for damaging winds and heavy rainfall.
Upper Nepean River:
Minor to moderate flooding may occur along the Upper Nepean River at Menangle and Camden Bridge.
The Nepean River at Menangle Bridge is currently at 4.89 m and rising, below the minor flood level.
The Nepean River at Menangle Bridge may exceed the minor flood level (5.20 m) Wednesday morning. The river may reach around the moderate flood level (9.20 m) Wednesday afternoon.
The Nepean River at Camden Weir is currently at 2.98 m and rising, below the minor flood level.
The Nepean River at Camden Weir may reach around the minor flood level (6.80 m) Wednesday evening.
Hawkesbury and Lower Nepean River:
Minor flooding may occur along the Hawkesbury and Lower Nepean River.
The Nepean River at Penrith is currently at 1.26 m and rising, below the minor flood level.
The Nepean River at Penrith may reach around the minor flood level (3.90 m) from Wednesday evening.
The Hawkesbury River at North Richmond WPS is currently at 0.57 m and falling, below the minor flood level.
The Hawkesbury River at North Richmond WPS may reach around the minor flood level (3.80 m) early Thursday morning.

Weather Situation
A mature low-pressure system is currently located offshore of the southern Mid North Coast, and is forecast to gradually track northeastwards into the Tasman Sea throughout today. However, a secondary lobe of the complex low will approach southern coasts into the evening, leading to a renewed burst of damaging winds about coastal localities. Winds are expected to ease as the entire low system tracks further east into the Tasman during Thursday morning.

Northern Rivers, Mid North Coast, Hunter, Metropolitan, Illawarra, South Coast, South West Slopes, Snowy Mountains, Australian Capital Territory and Northern Tablelands
DAMAGING SOUTH TO SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of around 100 km/h are possible today along parts of the coastal fringe from the South Coast through to the Mid North Coast, including Wollongong, eastern Sydney Metropolitan and Newcastle. Winds are expected to ease below warning thresholds during Thursday morning.
DAMAGING SOUTH TO SOUTHWESTERLY WIND GUSTS around 90 km/h are possible for parts of the Snowy Mountains and southern ACT this morning, easing below warning thresholds during the afternoon.
Strong to DAMAGING WEST TO SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS averaging 55 to 65 km/h with peak gusts of around 100 km/h are likely about parts of the Northern Tablelands, the Mid North Coast hinterland and about the Border Ranges, and are expected to continue through to Thursday morning.

Weather Situation
A coastal low pressure system offshore from the Mid North Coast is expected to move slowly northeast into the Tasman Sea during today. A secondary lobe of low pressure is then forecast to approach the southern coasts during the evening. Strong to gale force south to southwesterly winds around these lows are expected to generate large and powerful south to southeasterly waves, with damaging surf conditions persisting into Thursday.
DAMAGING SURF for the following areas:
Mid North Coast, Hunter, Metropolitan, Illawarra and South Coast
DAMAGING SURF CONDITIONS which may lead to coastal erosion and localised damage to coastal infrastructure are likely for coastlines between Seal Rocks and the New South Wales/Victorian border today and Thursday.
These conditions are expected to begin easing during Thursday, initially for southern coastlines during the morning, and may ease throughout the warning area by late Thursday afternoon.
Beach conditions in these areas could be dangerous and people should stay well away from the surf and surf exposed areas.

Sheep graziers are warned that cold temperatures, heavy rain and showers and southwesterly winds are expected during Wednesday and Thursday. Areas likely to be affected include the Illawarra, South Coast and Snowy Mountains forecast districts and parts of the Mid North Coast, Hunter, Northern Tablelands, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, North West Slopes & Plains and Australian Capital Territory forecast districts. There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.

MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT NOWRA AND TERARA FROM LATE WEDNESDAY MORNING
Moderate to heavy rainfall from Tuesday afternoon has caused significant river level rises across the Shoalhaven River and its tributaries. Minor flooding may develop at Nowra and Terara from late Wednesday morning.
Further rainfall is forecast across the catchment for the next few days, which may cause further river level rises. This situation is being closely monitored, and this warning will be updated as necessary.
A Severe Weather Warning is current for damaging winds and heavy rainfall covering Illawarra and South Coast.
Shoalhaven River:
Minor flooding is possible along the Shoalhaven River.
The Shoalhaven River at Nowra is currently at 1.78 m AHD and rising, below the minor flood level.
The Shoalhaven River at Nowra may reach around the minor flood level (2.30 m AHD) around midday Wednesday. Further rises are possible with forecast rain.
The Shoalhaven River at Terara is currently at 1.66 m AHD and rising, below the minor flood level.
The Shoalhaven River at Terara may reach around the minor flood level (2.20 m AHD) early Wednesday afternoon. Further rises are possible with forecast rainfall.

Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.

Boaters planning to cross shallow water and ocean bars should consider changing or delaying their voyage.
Boaters already on the water should carry the appropriate safety equipment and wear a lifejacket.
Boaters should remember to log on with their local Marine Rescue radio base, via VHF Radio or the Marine Rescue APP, and consider their safety management plan.
