Weather Situation
Surf and swell conditions are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as rock fishing, boating, and swimming in the following areas.

Warnings for Thursday 01 May

Hazardous Surf Warning for the following areas:
Macquarie Coast, Hunter Coast, Sydney Coast and Illawarra Coast

NSW Police Force, Marine Area Command advise that:
People should consider staying out of the water and avoid walking near surf-exposed areas.
Rock fishers should avoid coastal rock platforms exposed to the ocean and seek a safe location that is sheltered from the surf.
Boaters planning to cross shallow water and ocean bars should consider changing or delaying their voyage.
Boaters already on the water should carry the appropriate safety equipment and wear a lifejacket.
Boaters should remember to log on with their local Marine Rescue radio base, via VHF Radio or the Marine Rescue APP, and consider their safety management plan.

The next warning will be issued by 5:00 pm EST Wednesday.

Minor Flood Warning For The Hastings River

MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT SETTLEMENT POINT ON THE HIGH TIDE ON TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY EVENINGS
The river level along the Hastings River at Settlement Point peaked slightly below the minor flood level (1.20 m) Monday evening. High tides have the potential to cause minor flooding along the Hastings River at Settlement Point on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.

Hastings River:
Minor flooding may occur along the Hastings River.

The Hastings River at Settlement Point peaked at around 1.11 metres Monday evening and is currently at -0.10 metres and falling with the tide, below the minor flood level (1.20 m).
The Hastings River at Settlement Point may reach the minor flood level (1.20 m) on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings with the high tide.

Flood Safety Advice:
In life threatening emergencies, call 000 (triple zero) immediately. If you require rescue, assistance to evacuate or other emergency help, ring NSW SES on 132 500.
*Avoid drowning. Stay out of rising water, seek refuge in the highest available place.
*Prevent damage to your vehicle. Move it under cover, away from areas likely to flood.
*Avoid being swept away. Stay out of fast-flowing creeks and storm drains.
*Never drive, ride or walk through flood water. Flood water can be deceptive and dangerous.}

Final Flood Warning For The Williams River
Issued at 10:03 AM EST on Tuesday 29 April 2025

NO FURTHER FLOODING EXPECTED AT MILL DAM FALLS
Heavy rainfall during Saturday and Sunday caused minor flooding along the Williams River at Dungog and Mill Dam Falls overnight Sunday into Monday. River levels are now below the minor flood level and will continue to fall during the remainder of Tuesday.
Showers and the chance of thunderstorms are forecast for the next few days which may cause renewed river level rises. At this stage these renewed rises are expected to remain below minor flood levels. The situation is being monitored and warnings will resume if required.

Williams River:
No further flooding is expected along the Williams River.
The Williams River at Mill Dam Falls is currently at 3.85 metres and falling, below the minor flood level.
The Williams River at Mill Dam Falls will remain below the minor flood level (6.10 m).

FLOODING NO LONGER OCCURRING AT COUTTS CROSSING
No significant rainfall has been recorded in the 24 hours to 9:00 am Tuesday. Flooding is no longer occurring along the Orara River at Coutts Crossing.
Showers are forecast over the next few days, however rainfall totals are not expected to significantly impact river levels.

Orara River:
Flooding is no longer occurring along the Orara River.

The Orara River at Coutts Crossing is currently at 4.90 metres and falling, below the minor flood level (5.00 m).
The Orara River at Coutts Crossing is expected to remain below the minor flood level (5.00 m).
