Warning to Sheep Graziers

for Northern Tablelands, Illawarra, South Coast, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, South West Slopes, Riverina, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory forecast districts

Warning to Sheep Graziers for the following areas:
Northern Tablelands, Illawarra, South Coast, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, South West Slopes, Riverina, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory forecast districts
Sheep graziers are warned that cold temperatures, showers and westerly winds are expected during Wednesday and Thursday. Areas likely to be affected include the Southern Tablelands, South West Slopes, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory forecast districts and parts of the Northern Tablelands, Illawarra, South Coast, Central Tablelands and Riverina forecast districts. There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.

The next warning will be issued by 5:00 pm EST Wednesday.

for Damaging Winds

for Illawarra and parts of Mid North Coast, Hunter, Metropolitan, South Coast, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands and Northern Tablelands Forecast Districts.

Damaging winds about the Great Dividing Range as well as southern and central parts of the coast.

Weather Situation
A strong cold front crossing the state today will result in damaging winds continuing about the ranges and southeastern coastal areas, extending northwards along the Great Dividing Range and about the Hunter coast today.
DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas:
Mid North Coast, Hunter, Metropolitan, Illawarra, South Coast, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands and Northern Tablelands
For CENTRAL GREAT DIVIDING RANGE AND SOUTHEASTERN AREAS including SYDNEY HARBOUR, BLUE MOUNTAINS,ILLAWARRA AND WOLLONGONG: DAMAGING WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts around 110 km/h are possible, easing below warning thresholds during the evening.
For NORTHEASTERN AREAS including THE HUNTER VALLEY AND NEWCASTLE: DAMAGING WINDS averaging 55 to 65 km/h with peak gusts around 90 km/h are likely, contracting to the ranges during the evening.
Locations which may be affected include Newcastle, Wollongong, Goulburn, Nowra, Katoomba and Cessnock.
Severe weather is no longer occurring in the South West Slopes, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED.

96 km/h wind gust recorded at Kurnell at 9:10 am.
93 km/h wind gust recorded at Kiama at 8:23 am.
93 km/h wind gust recorded at Sydney Airport at 8:52 am.

South West Slopes,Australian Capital Territory,Snowy Mountains

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
* Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences.
* Trees that have been damaged by fire are likely to be more unstable and more likely to fall.
* Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill.
* Stay vigilant and monitor conditions. Note that the landscape may have changed following bushfires.
* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 132 500.
