Minor Flood Warning For The Victoria River

RENEWED MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT KALKARINDJI FROM OVERNIGHT MONDAY INTO TUESDAY
Recent moderate rainfall across the upper Victoria River catchment caused a minor flood peak during Monday morning at Kalkarindji. The river level has now fallen below the minor flood level, however, renewed minor flooding is possible from overnight Monday into Tuesday with forecast rainfall.
Rainfall is forecast over the next few days which may cause further river level rises. The situation will be closely monitored and this warning will be updated as required.
A Flood Watch is current for parts of the Bonaparte and North West Coastal River catchments.
Upper Victoria River:
Renewed minor flooding is possible along the upper Victoria River.
The Victoria River at Kalkarindji peaked at 9.13 m around 10:30 am Monday, with minor flooding. The river is currently at 8.31 m and falling, below the minor flood level.
With forecast rainfall, the Victoria River at Kalkarindji may reach around the minor flood level (9.00 m) from overnight Monday into Tuesday.
Flood Safety Advice:
Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
