FLOODING CONTINUING IN PARTS OF NORTH-EASTERN AND CENTRAL CATCHMENTS
FURTHER FLOODING POSSIBLE OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS OVER THE MID NORTH, NORTH WEST PASTORAL AND SOUTH EAST DISTRICTS AND MOUNT LOFTY RANGES
A slow moving low pressure system over southern Northern Territory extending a trough into the northeast of Southern Australia is forecast to continue producing widespread moderate to heavy rainfall across the Flood Watch area over the next few days.
The highest rainfall totals have been observed over the North East Pastoral district and Eyre Peninsula, however rainfall is forecast to extend southwards during the remainder of the weekend. The highest rainfall totals are expected for catchments around the Mount Lofty Ranges and in the Adelaide region from Sunday. Accumulated rainfall totals will be significant.
Widespread daily rainfall totals up to 30-50 mm, with possible higher localised falls of up to 100 mm are possible from Saturday.
River and creek level rises, localised flooding, and overland inundation are occurring across parts of the Flood Watch area and are likely to become more extensive, affecting larger parts of the Flood Watch area. Many bitumen and dirt outback roads are currently impacted by flooding, resulting in the isolation of some communities. The majority of major roads in the region are closed. Check road conditions before travelling.

FLOODING OCCURRING ALONG THE COOPER CREEK AT INNAMINCKA
ELEVATED RIVER LEVELS OCCURRING ALONG THE WARBURTON RIVER
Heavy rainfall over the past week in the Cullyamurra and Innamincka area has caused local creek level rises at Cullyamurra Waterhole, flooding of the causeway at Innamincka and widespread road closures. Significant creek level rises have been recorded upstream along the Cooper Creek at Nappa Merrie in Queensland and at Cullyamurra Waterhole, where river levels have peaked and are now falling.
Elevated river levels and rises are also occurring along the Warburton River at Poothapootha Waterhole, likely due to a combination of flows arriving from the lower Diamantina River and local rainfall. Along the lower Diamantina River at Birdsville in Queensland, levels remain above the minor flood level and continue to rise, with these flows expected to take several days to reach Poothapootha Waterhole in South Australia.
Many roads and access tracks are impacted by flooding, in particular river and creek crossings. Transportation and movement of local communities and travellers is likely to be further impacted. Check road conditions before travelling.
A Flood Watch is current for parts of South Australia. Queensland flood warnings are current for the Georgina River, Eyre Creek, Diamantina River and Cooper Creek.

Warburton:
Elevated river levels are occurring along the Warburton River at Poothapootha Waterhole.
Cooper Creek:
Elevated river levels are occurring at Cullyamurra Waterhole, with river levels around 4.40 m above the Innamincka causeway and falling.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system located over southern parts of the Northern Territory is expected to begin moving slowly southwards today, crossing into north-central SA during the afternoon and evening. An extremely humid tropical airmass is wrapping around the southern flank of this low, extending into central and southern parts of the state. A trough over southern SA will interact with the tropical airmass into Sunday, increasing the risk of heavy, locally intense falls.

Adelaide Metropolitan, Mount Lofty Ranges, West Coast, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Flinders, Mid North, Kangaroo Island, Riverland, Murraylands, Upper South East, Lower South East, North West Pastoral and North East Pastoral
HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is likely about northern and western parts of the state today, however is possible about central and southeastern parts including Adelaide. The risk of HEAVY RAINFALL is expected to increase about central and eastern parts including Adelaide on Sunday. Six hourly rainfall totals between 30 and 50 mm are possible today, increasing to 40 to 60 mm about central and southeastern parts on Sunday.
Locally INTENSE RAINFALL which may lead to DANGEROUS AND LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODING is likely about northern and western parts today, however is possible in thunderstorms elsewhere. The risk will broaden to the Murraylands and Riverland districts tonight, and more broadly about central and southeastern parts including Adelaide on Sunday. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 40 to 60 mm are possible today, increasing to 60 to 100 mm on Sunday.

* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains;
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe.
