Severe Weather Warning
for Damaging Winds
for parts of Mount Lofty Ranges, West Coast, Flinders, Mid North, Murraylands, Riverland and North West Pastoral districts.
Issued at 10:52 am Tuesday, 8 July 2025.
Damaging wind gusts to continue about elevated areas, developing along the West Coast from Wednesday morning.
Weather Situation
A cold front that brought strong to damaging winds across the southeast this morning has now shifted east into Victoria and New South Wales, though a vigorous westerly flow is expected to remain about elevated areas of the southeast into this afternoon. A second cold front will arrive on Wednesday morning and bring another burst of strong to damaging winds to the West Coast, and potentially along the Flinders Ranges later on Wednesday.
DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas:
Mount Lofty Ranges, West Coast, Flinders, Mid North, Riverland, Murraylands and North West Pastoral
DAMAGING WIND GUSTS with peak gusts of around 90 km/h likely to continue over elevated areas of the ranges this afternoon, then develop over the West Coast and spread into parts of the North West Pastoral district from Wednesday morning.
Winds about the elevated areas are expected to ease by late this afternoon, but may redevelop during Wednesday afternoon. Winds are expected to ease from west from late Wednesday evening.
Locations which may be affected include Ceduna, Nullarbor, Burra, Peterborough, Fowlers Bay and Streaky Bay.
Severe weather is no longer occurring in the Adelaide Metropolitan, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Kangaroo Island, Upper South East, Lower South East and North East Pastoral districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED.

98 km/h wind gust was recorded at Edithburgh at 4:38 am ACST
96 km/h wind gust was recorded at Outer Harbor Tide Gauge at 3:41 am ACST
94 km/h wind gust was recorded at Minlaton Airport at 3:37 am ACST
91 km/h wind gust was recorded at Black Pole at 3:33 am ACST
Cancellation for the following areas:
Yorke Peninsula,Kangaroo Island,Upper South East,Lower South East,Lower Eyre Peninsula,North East Pastoral,Adelaide Metropolitan
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your property.
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe.
The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 5:00 pm ACST Tuesday.
