Moderate Flood Warning For The South Esk River

MODERATE FLOODING OCCURRING AT FINGAL AND LIKELY AT LEWIS HILL FROM OVERNIGHT SATURDAY INTO SUNDAY
MINOR FLOODING LIKELY AT LLEWELLYN SUNDAY MORNING
Moderate to heavy rainfall has been observed across the South Esk catchment during Saturday. This has caused moderate flooding along the South Esk River at Fingal. Minor flooding may develop further downstream at Llewellyn from Sunday morning. Along the St Pauls River, moderate flooding is possible at Lewis Hill overnight Saturday into Sunday.
Rainfall is expected to ease across the South Esk River catchment into Sunday.
A flood watch is current for North and South East Tasmania.
Break O'Day River:
River level rises are occurring along the Break O'Day River.
South Esk River above Fingal:
River level rises are occurring along the South Esk River above Fingal.
St Pauls River:
Moderate flooding is likely along the St Pauls River.
The St Pauls River at Lewis Hill is currently at 2.55 m and rising, with minor flooding.
The St Pauls River at Lewis Hill may reach around the moderate flood level (2.60 m) overnight Saturday into Sunday.
South Esk River - Fingal to Llewellyn:
Moderate flooding is occurring along the South Esk River.
The South Esk River at Fingal is currently at 5.28 m and rising, with moderate flooding.
The South Esk River at Fingal may reach around 5.60 m overnight Saturday into Sunday, with moderate flooding. Further rises are possible as upstream flows arrive.
The South Esk River at Llewellyn is currently at 2.36 m and rising, below the minor flood level.
The South Esk River at Llewellyn may reach around the minor flood level (4.00 m) Sunday morning.
Nile River:
River level rises are occurring along the Nile River.

Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
