Initial Flood Watch For Upper Yarra River

Flood Watch Number: 1
MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE FROM SUNDAY

A cold front continues to cross the state this evening, with moderate falls over the north east, south west and central parts of the state.
The Upper Yarra Catchment is moderately wet.
Widespread rainfall totals of 20 to 75mm are possible from Saturday into Monday.
Minor flooding is possible in the Upper Yarra catchment from Sunday afternoon.

Catchments likely to be affected include:
Yarra River to Coldstream
Yarra River downstream of Coldstream

The Bureau of Meteorology is continuing to monitor the situation and will issue catchment specific warnings as required.

SES advises that all community members should:
Never walk, ride or drive through floodwater, Never allow children to play in floodwater, Stay away from waterways and stormwater drains during and after heavy rain, Keep well clear of fallen power lines Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into waterways may contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks, and heavy rainfall increases the potential for landslides and debris across roads.

Warning to Sheep Graziers

for Mallee, Northern Country, North Central, North East, South West and Central forecast districts

Warning to Sheep Graziers for the following areas:
Mallee, Northern Country, North Central, North East, South West and Central forecast districts
Sheep graziers are warned that cold temperatures, rain, showers and west to southwesterly winds are expected during Saturday and Sunday. Areas likely to be affected include the Northern Country, North East and Central forecast districts and parts of the Mallee, North Central and South West forecast districts. There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.

Wimmera, West and South Gippsland and East Gippsland forecast districts
The Warning to Sheep Graziers for the Wimmera, West and South Gippsland and East Gippsland forecast districts has been cancelled.
