Minor Flood Warning For The Herbert River

RENEWED MINOR FLOODING ESTIMATED TO BE OCCURRING AT GLENEAGLE
RENEWED MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT ABERGOWRIE BRIDGE EARLY SUNDAY MORNING
RENEWED MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT HALIFAX SUNDAY AFTERNOON
Moderate to heavy rainfall since Thursday has caused river and creek level rises across the Herbert River catchment.
River levels are elevated upstream to Gleneagle, with renewed minor flooding estimated to be occurring at Gleneagle as a second peak moves downstream.
Downstream, renewed river level rises are occurring at Abergowrie Bridge, where renewed minor flooding is possible from early Sunday morning. River levels at Ingham Pump Station and Gairloch are currently falling below minor, but with renewed rises below minor possible. The river level at Halifax is estimated to be falling after peaking near the minor flood level. Renewed rises to minor flood level are possible as a second peak moves downstream, and with forecast rainfall.
Further showers and storms are forecast through the weekend. This situation is being closely monitored, and warnings will be updated as necessary.
A Flood Watch is current for catchments between Cooktown and Mackay, including the Herbert River catchment.

Herbert River to Nash's Crossing:
Minor flooding may occur along the Herbert River to Nash's Crossing.
No recent river level observations are available for Gleneagle, however, based on a nearby automatic gauge the river level is estimated to 5.05 metres and rising, above the minor flood level (4.50 metres).
The Herbert River at Gleneagle may reach around 6.00 metres Sunday morning with minor flooding.

Herbert River downstream of Nash's Crossing:
Renewed minor flooding may occur along the Herbert River downstream of Nash's Crossing.
The Herbert River at Abergowrie Bridge peaked at 6.85 metres around 4:50 am Saturday and is currently at 5.55 metres and rising, below the minor flood level.
The Herbert River at Abergowrie Bridge may reach the minor flood level (6.00 metres) early Sunday morning.

The Herbert River at Ingham Pump Station is currently at 7.04 metres and falling, below the minor flood level (10.00 metres).
Renewed river level rises are possible at Ingham Pump Station but is expected to remain below the minor flood level during Sunday.

The Herbert River at Gairloch is currently at 6.54 metres and falling, below the minor flood level (9.50 metres).
The Herbert River at Gairloch is expected to remain below the minor flood level during Sunday.

No current observations are available for the Herbert River at Halifax. The river level is estimated to have fallen below the minor flood level (4.00 metres).
Renewed minor flooding is possible at Halifax from Sunday afternoon.

Final Flood Warning For The Bohle River

FLOODING NO LONGER OCCURRING AT MT BOHLE
Heavy rainfall since Thursday morning has caused river level rises and moderate flooding along the Bohle River. The main flood peak has now passed Mt Bohle, where flooding is no longer occurring.
Further rainfall is forecast for the remainder of Saturday into Sunday which may cause renewed river level rises along the Bohle River. The situation is being closely monitored and warnings will be updated if necessary.
A Flood Watch is current for catchments between Cooktown and Mackay, including the Bohle River catchment.

Bohle River:
Flooding is no longer occurring along the Bohle River.
The Bohle River at Mt Bohle fell below the minor flood level (4.00 m) late Saturday morning, and is currently at 3.56 metres and falling.

Minor Flood Warning For The Haughton River Catchment

MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT GIRU
Heavy rainfall has been recorded across the Haughton River catchment from Thursday morning. This has resulted in elevated river levels along the Haughton River. River levels at Giru may remain around the minor flood level during Saturday into Sunday, as floodwaters arrive from upstream.
A Flood Watch is current for catchments between Cooktown and Mackay, including the Haughton River catchment. The situation is being closely monitored and warnings will be updated as required.

Haughton River:
Minor flooding may occur along the Haughton River.
The Haughton River at Giru is currently at 1.53 metres and falling, below the minor flood level (1.80 m).
The Haughton River at Giru may remain around the minor flood level (1.80 m) during Saturday into Sunday, as floodwaters arrive from upstream.
