Minor Flood Warning For The Cape, Suttor And Burdekin Rivers

MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT TAEMAS, ST ANNS, BURDEKIN FALLS DAM, DALBEG, CLARE AND INKERMAN BRIDGE (BURDEKIN BRIDGE)
Moderate to heavy rainfall since last week has caused river level rises and flooding along the Cape, Belyando, Suttor and Burdekin Rivers.
Minor flooding is occurring along the Cape River at Taemas. A minor flood peak was observed on the Suttor River at St Anns on Tuesday morning. Further downstream along the Burdekin River, minor flooding continues at Burdekin Falls Dam, Dalbeg, Clare, and Inkerman Bridge (Burdekin Bridge), following minor flood peaks during Tuesday and early Wednesday.
Further showers and thunderstorms are forecast across the catchment over the next few days, which may cause additional river level rises across the Burdekin River catchment. The situation is being monitored, and this warning will be updated as required.

Belyando and Suttor Rivers to Burdekin Falls Dam:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Suttor River at St Anns.
The Suttor River at St Anns peaked at 5.75 m around 03:30 am Tuesday, with minor flooding. The river is currently at 5.64 m and steady, with minor flooding.
The Suttor River at St Anns is likely to remain above the minor flood level (4.00 m) though to Friday.

Cape River to Burdekin Falls Dam:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Cape River to Burdekin Falls Dam at Taemas.
The Cape River at Taemas is currently at 6.21 m and falling, with minor flooding.
The Cape River at Taemas is likely to remain above the minor flood level (5.00 m) during the remainder of Wednesday and Thursday. Further rises are possible as upstream flows arrive.

Burdekin River to Burdekin Falls Dam:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Burdekin river at Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Burdekin Dam peaked at 3.85 m around 05:15 pm Tuesday, with minor flooding. The water level is currently at 3.76 m and steady, with minor flooding.
The Burdekin Dam may remain above the minor flood level (3.00 m) though to Friday.

Burdekin River downstream of Burdekin Falls Dam:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Burdekin River downstream of Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Burdekin River at Dalbeg peaked at 11.53 m around 11:00 am Tuesday, with minor flooding. The river is currently at 11.38 m and steady, with minor flooding.
The Burdekin River at Dalbeg is likely to remain above the minor flood level (10.00 m) during the remainder of Wednesday and Thursday.

The Burdekin River at Clare peaked at 10.05 m around 12:30 am Wednesday, with minor flooding. The river is currently at 9.95 m and falling, with minor flooding.
The Burdekin River at Clare may remain above the minor flood level (9.00 m) during the remainder of Wednesday and Thursday.

The Burdekin River at Inkerman Bridge peaked at 7.55 m around 01:00 am Wednesday, with minor flooding. The river is currently at 7.50 m and steady, with minor flooding.
The Burdekin River at Inkerman Bridge may remain above the minor flood level (7.00 m) during the remainder of Wednesday and Thursday.

RIVER LEVELS ESTIMATED TO BE ABOVE THE MINOR FLOOD LEVEL AT GLENEAGLE HOMESTEAD
MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT ABERGOWRIE BRIDGE
Minor flooding is estimated to be occurring at Gleneagle Homestead, and minor flooding is occurring at Abergowrie Bridge. River levels across the catchment are currently falling, although forecast showers and thunderstorms may lead to renewed river level rises over the coming days.

Herbert River to Nash's Crossing:
Minor flooding is estimated to be occurring at Gleneagle Homestead.
No observations are currently available for the Herbert River at Gleneagle Homestead. Based on the nearby automatic gauge, the river level is estimated to be above the minor flood level and falling.
The Herbert River at Gleneagle Homestead is expected to remain above the minor flood level (4.50 m) during the remainder of Wednesday and into Thursday.

Herbert River downstream of Nash's Crossing:
Minor flooding is occurring at Abergowrie Bridge.
The Herbert River at Abergowrie Bridge is currently at 6.47 m and falling, with minor flooding.
The Herbert River at Abergowrie Bridge may fall below the minor flood level (6.00 m) overnight Wednesday into Thursday.

The Herbert River at Halifax is currently at 3.71 m and falling, below the minor flood level.
Flooding is no longer expected on the Herbert River at Halifax.
