Warning to Sheep Graziers

for Northern Country, North Central, North East, South West, Central, West and South Gippsland and East Gippsland forecast districts

Warning to Sheep Graziers for the following areas:
Northern Country, North Central, North East, South West, Central, West and South Gippsland and East Gippsland forecast districts
Sheep graziers are warned that cold temperatures, showers and southwesterly winds are expected during Wednesday and Thursday. Areas likely to be affected include the North East, South West and West and South Gippsland forecast districts and parts of the Northern Country, North Central, Central and East Gippsland forecast districts. There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.
Cancellation of Warning to Sheep Graziers for the following areas:
Mallee and Wimmera forecast districts
The Warning to Sheep Graziers for the Mallee and Wimmera forecast districts has been cancelled.

The next warning will be issued by 5:00 pm EST Wednesday.

Northern Country, North Central, North East, Central and East Gippsland forecast districts
Frosts with temperatures down to -2 degrees are forecast for Thursday morning in parts of the Northern Country, North Central, North East, Central and East Gippsland forecast districts.

No further warnings will be issued for this event.

for ABNORMALLY HIGH TIDES

for parts of Central, East Gippsland, South West and West and South Gippsland Forecast Districts.

Abnormally High Tides for Victoria

Weather Situation
A deep low-pressure system to the south will move into the Tasman Sea today, with strong to gale-force west to southwesterly winds expected to generate elevated sea levels across the state.
ABNORMALLY HIGH TIDES for the following areas:
Central, East Gippsland, South West and West and South Gippsland
ABNORMALLY HIGH TIDES may lead to sea water flooding of low-lying coastal areas for the entire Victorian coast, including Port Phillip. Tides are likely to rise WELL ABOVE the normal high tide mark during this afternoon and evening high tides.
Abnormally high tide conditions are expected to ease by this afternoon for locations west of Cape Otway, during the evening for Central Coast locations including Port Phillip, and early Thursday morning for remaining coastal areas.
Locations which may be affected include Geelong, Melbourne, Portland, Port Fairy, Inverloch, Port Albert, Silverleaves, Barwon Heads, Frankston and Lakes Entrance.


The Victoria State Emergency Service and Life Saving Victoria advise that people should be aware of the following:
* Do not walk, ride or drive through flood waters.
* Stay away from beaches, tidal rivers and creeks.
* If you have a boat or water craft, haul out if possible or check your moorings are secure.
* Keep away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
* Stay informed - monitor weather warnings and forecasts at the Bureau of Meteorology website, and warnings through VicEmergency app, website and hotline (1800 226 226).

The next Coastal Hazard Warning will be issued by 5:00 pm AEST Wednesday.
Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.

Damaging winds have eased over alpine areas this morning.

Weather Situation
West to southwesterly winds are easing over Victoria, although blustery showers remain possible along coastal parts of the state this morning and afternoon.
cancellation of severe weather warning for the following areas:
Central, East Gippsland, North Central, North East and West and South Gippsland
Severe weather is no longer occurring in Victoria. Whilst the risk of blizzard conditions has eased over alpine areas, short periods of white out conditions are possible with snow showers during the day.
The immediate threat of severe weather has passed, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary.
A separate warning for ABNORMALLY HIGH TIDES is current for the Victorian coast. Please refer to http://www.bom.gov.au/warnings/
Significant observations in the 12 hours to 8:30 am Wednesday include:
93 km/h wind gust was recorded at Gelantipy at 10:21 pm.
94 km/h wind gust was recorded at Cape Otway at 9:57 pm.
96 km/h wind gust was recorded at Port Fairy 9:16 pm.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Stay away from fallen powerlines - always assume they are live.
* Stay safe by avoiding dangerous hazards, such as floodwater, mud, debris, damaged roads and fallen trees.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
